The integrity commissioner is an independent and impartial position that reports directly to Northumberland County Council.

Duties of the Integrity Commissioner

The integrity commissioner is responsible for:

  • Advising County Council members of their duties under the Council Code of Conduct
  • Receiving and reviewing complaints made by a member of Council, a staff member or the public concerning a breach of the Code of Conduct
  • Deciding whether and how to investigate complaints about County Council members’ conduct
  • Reporting outcomes and recommendations to Council if there is an investigation

Submitting a complaint

Submit a complaint directly to the Integrity Commissioner using the Request for Investigation form.
