Join the Brighton Landfill Liaison Committee

The County of Northumberland is looking for a resident of Northumberland County to serve as the County appointed member on the Brighton Landfill Liaison Committee (BLLC).

The BLLC reviews and provides recommendations to the County of Northumberland and the Municipality of Brighton on the following:

  • Landfill operations at the Brighton Landfill
  • Annual operating and monitoring reports for the Brighton Landfill
  • Proposed changes to the regulatory approvals for the Brighton Landfill; and
  • Complaints and complaint response procedures and any other matters of concern to the local community relating to the operation of the Brighton Landfill.

The membership of the Committee consists of:

  • two (2) members of the Municipality of Brighton’s Council;
  • one (1) member of Northumberland County’s Council;
  • two (2) members are resident of the Municipality of Brighton, appointed by the Municipality of Brighton Council. One of whom must reside within five (5) kilometers of the Brighton Landfill; and,
  • one (1) member who is a resident of Northumberland County, appointed by Northumberland County Council.

If you are interested in serving on this Committee please submit a letter of interest to the County of Northumberland, 555 Courthouse Road, Cobourg ON, K9A 5J6, attention Mr. Adam McCue, Associate Director of Operations, no later than Thursday, July 13, 2023.

The letter of interest should include a description of the skills and experience you would bring to the Committee to assist it in fulfilling its mandate.
